Adoption Update

Paperwork.  That is all that is happening with the adoption right now.  Just waiting for paperwork after paperwork after paperwork!  It is pretty exciting the progress that is being made with all the paperwork,  but pretty crazy how much there is!  As I look at the list of documents from beginning to end, it is amazing how much we have gotten through and there isn't that much left on the list of paperwork to do! Yay!  Right now, we are waiting on our Article 5, which is a document that is being processed at the US Embassy in China. The consulate is reviewing Emma's visa application to make sure it meets the qualifications for an immigrant visa, and then signs off that everything is in order for the adoption to be completed. Our next step after that will be travel approval!!!  We should still be on track to travel the end of August.  Realizing that June is almost over, travel is going to come very soon!

So what do I do in the mean time??  One thing we need to do is update our home study.  It is crazy, but it will need updated one month before we travel, so we need to get that done.  Also, we are moving!  We close on our new house this next Thursday.  We are really excited about our new house, although sad to leave our neighbors here.  I think God planned our move at the right time, though, because it has kept my mind from dwelling on the adoption process too much!  There is a lot to think about with a new house and a lot to do, so I can't just sit and think about wanting Emma right now.

Actually, it is pretty hard not to think about her!  Even Callie thinks about her all the time cause she talks about her all the time!  Callie knows that when it is day here, it is night there, and she prays for Emma to have a good day when we are going to bed.  Below is a little photo book that we sent to Emma today.  I hope she gets it and is able to play with it often so she can maybe recognize our faces.  You can't really tell, but on the pictures it has English and Chinese.  It has the English of big sister, little sister, my family, daddy, and mommy.  And then it has the Chinese of all of them.  I had Matt ask his employee that lives in China to write that for us when he was in China last week. :)
